Scotland Look Out ...

Brace yourself Scotland as the gang is readying itslef for the first training trip next week. It will be the first time the guys have been out together so watch this space for news of how it went - fingers crossed for us all coming back alive!!!

Uncle Sherpa leading the way

Ben's Sherpa uncle is heading up the plans for our first Himalayan experience. So far the aim is to get to Everest base camp and acclimatise before attempting the summit of Island!

Expedition

Leaving in April '09 the Expedition will last 18 days London to London and will see the members climb to Everest base camp before attempting Island and Mera peaks. Carrying all of their kit themsleves, the team are going on a shoestring to keep student debts to a minimum!

Members

Pat O'Hara works for BSES and this will be his first Himalayan expedition. Previously Pat has skiied and boarded big mountain in Canada, skydived competitively in Eurpoe and coached soccer in the USA.

"I can't wait for this expedition, a big challenge for me. I'm hoping this will be the gateway for bigger and more extreme adventures. Later this year I'm hoping to experience -20 degrees C in Svalbard, Summit mountains in the Tien Shen, cross the sand dunes in Libya and ski tour the Lyngen alps."

Ben Rigby has recently returned from South Georgia and the Falkland isles where he survived attacks from Fur seals and a sinking ship. Previously, Ben spent 5 weeks exploring Greenland in summer.
